Participation

To cover the costs involved in the organization of the Conference, the Conference Secretariat will charge a participation fee of 150 EUR, with an exemption for UNWTO Members and its official delegates: Member States (in particular, National Tourism Administrations and National Tourism Offices), Associate Members, Observers and Affiliate Members.

Governments, entities and bodies invited by the Secretary-General in his letter dated 15 June 2016 and the interrested general public are requested to complete the registration page before the 30th of September in the below website:

The fee shall be transferred to NATIONAAL RESTAURATIEFONDS according to the below instructions. The registration fee covers all the conference materials, the participation certificate as well as participation in all the coffee breaks, lunch and Dinner (Paushuize) on the 6th of October.

The entrance fee for non-UNWTO members must be paid via bank transfer, indicating code Utrecht2016 in the comments part. Kindly be aware that payment must be received before the conference, otherwise entrance can be rejected.

The working language of the Conference will be English.

The Conference on "Religious Heritage and Tourism: How to increase religious heritage tourism in a changing society, is jointly organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Government of The Netherlands duly represented by the Cultural Heritage Agency and by the Museum Catharijneconvent, the Centre for Religious Art and Culture (Flanders) and Future for Religious Heritage. The event will be held on 5 - 7 October 2016, in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

  • The welcome cocktail will take place on Wednesday 5 October in the Museum Catharijneconvent (by special invitation only)
  • The Opening Session and the respective panel sessions will take place on Thursday and Friday 6-7 October in the Dom church.

Participants are requested to wear their identification badges throughout the Conference sessions in the area reserved for the event. All participants are requested to collect their badges at the registration desks.Access to the areas set aside for the Conference will be restricted exclusively to participants wearing identification badges. Badges will be obtained at the Registration Desk at the Dom church which will open from 09:00 to 9:30 on 6 October.

Transport

  • Speakers and VIP guests will be contacted separately for special arrangements,
  • A welcome desk will be set up at the train station of Utrecht to welcome delegates,
  • Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is situated about 55 km from Utrecht. The car drive takes 45 minutes in normal traffic to Utrecht. By train the trip takes around 50 minutes. Further information regarding the airport is available at the airport’s website: http://www.schiphol.nl/,

FRONTIER FORMALITIES

Applicants for a visa will be required to present a confirmation from UNWTO that they are registered as participants in the upcoming meeting. An application for a visa must be submitted to the embassy or consulate at least 15 working days before the intended visit. However, participants are requested to make an appointment to apply for a visa well in time. An application cannot be lodged earlier than 3 months before the start of the intended journey. The Netherlands will use their best efforts to have the necessary visas issued to the participants free of charge and without delay.

The Netherlands have a temperate maritime climate influenced by the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean, with cool summers and moderate winters. Daytime temperatures varies from 2°C-6°C in the winter and 17°C-20°C in the summer.
