Thailand and Qatar official hosts of World Tourism Day 2016 and 2017
Thailand and Qatar have been selected to be the official host countries for World Tourism Day (WTD) in 2016 and 2017 respectively, at the 21st UNWTO General Assembly in Medellín, Colombia (17 September 2015).

UNWTO Regional Commissions elect new chairs
UNWTO’s six Regional Commissions have elected new chairs and vice-chairs, as well as the host countries of their meetings in 2016. The decisions were made on the occasion of the ongoing 21st UNWTO General Assembly in Medellín, Colombia (12-13 September 2015).

21 million more international tourists in the first half of 2015
The number of international tourist arrivals grew by 4% in the first half of 2015 according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. Destinations worldwide received some 538 million international tourists between January and June 2015, an increase of 21 million compared to the same period of 2014.

International tourist arrivals up 4% in the first four months of 2015
International tourism demand continued to be robust between January and April 2015 with tourist arrivals increasing 4% worldwide according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. Almost all regions enjoyed strong growth. Prospects for the May-August period remain upbeat, with close to 500 million tourists expected to travel abroad during these four months.

CEHAT commits to the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism
The Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodations, CEHAT, has signed the Private Sector Commitment to the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism, pledging to uphold, promote and implement its values in their policies and operations (Madrid, Spain, 7 July 2015).

UNWTO and the Turkic Council to work together on tourism development
